My copy of Smolin's new book is on its way, expect a review in the near future. Based on other reviews I've seen so far as well as the promotional lecture at the Perimeter Institute, I'm not optimistic. It seems like Smolin has, if not gone full-mystic, at the very least turned into a philosophical "domesticator" of science par excellence, which is of course what this blog stands against in its very title!
Between that and someone with a "hard problem of consciousness" fetish pushing Penrose's quantum consciousness yesterday on Less Wrong, I think I need to read some Feynman as an antidote. Maybe I'll bring a volume of the Lectures up to my other house this weekend...
